How does it work?
Temperature does not convert with a plain factor: Celsius and Fahrenheit have shifted scales, so the formula combines multiplication and addition. From Celsius to Fahrenheit: (°C × 9/5) + 32.
Kelvin is the scientific scale: it starts at absolute zero (−273.15 °C) and its degrees measure the same as Celsius, only the origin changes.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply by 9/5 and add 32. For example, 20 °C is (20 × 9/5) + 32 = 68 °F. The converter does it for you.
And Fahrenheit to Celsius?
Subtract 32 and multiply by 5/9. For example, 68 °F is (68 − 32) × 5/9 = 20 °C.
What is absolute zero?
The lowest possible temperature: −273.15 °C, equal to 0 K. You cannot go below it, so a negative Kelvin does not exist.
